Life Giving Leadership

As we head into the festive season and hopefully take some time to reflect on what an incredible, unpredictable, rich, and rollercoaster of the year 2020 was, I would like to share with you a podcast interview I took part in with my friend Michael Prince and his colleagues at Oasis People and Culture.  They have started a leadership conversation series called ‘Life-Giving Leadership’ and I was privileged to be the second interviewee, following on from the inspirational former Chief Justice of the West Australian Supreme Court, Wayne Martin.

In our conversation, I speak of the relationship between authenticity, vulnerability, and authority, and as our conversation unfolded the words humility and grace also reappeared on several occasions.

One of the themes of our discussion centred around leadership requiring us to hold uncomfortable and opposing realities in tension.  This is something I feel I have done throughout my leadership journey, but no more so than this year - professionally and personally.  I’m sure this will resonate with many of you.

So as I conclude by wishing you, your families, and organisations a happy, healthy, and restful festive season, I invite you to take some time, sit back and listen to the podcast below.  I am confident there will be some valuable messages in it for you all.  It truly was an enriching experience for me and I came away feeling like I had learned more about love, discomfort, growth, community, the leadership journey, and myself.
