Are you a school, institution or organisation with a deep commitment to developing the leaders that the world needs to thrive?

Rabia works with progressive organisations to deliver a term-long program that grows the self-leadership, wellbeing and citizenship skills of all of its participants.

This program:

  1. Teaches leadership to every participant, whilst also enhancing social and emotional growth;

  2. Creates a culture of empowerment and leadership opportunities;

  3. Exposes participants to stimulating and diverse experiences and environments, thereby challenging their perspectives and pushing them out of their comfort zones; and

  4. Fosters a genuine desire and interest in serving others and building respectful relationships with people from other communities and backgrounds.

Component 1

Each module focuses on one of the Seven Habits by Franklin Covey, and is delivered using a mixture of guest/external presenter, experiential learning, role-playing and active learning exercises. Each module will also include content that forms part of the self-leadership and citizenship development learning outcomes.

An example of what these modules might look like is below:

  1. Module 1: Self-leadership, taking responsibility and using initiative to impact change

  2. Module 2: Mindset and beliefs, developing a purpose and vision

  3. Module 3: Planning to achieve and being your best self

  4. Module 4: The win isn't in the win but how you play the game

  5. Module 5: Understand first, then seek to be understood; the art of listening & presenting

  6. Module 6: Diversity, collaboration and inclusion - creating and resolving together

  7. Module 7: Balance, renewal and growth mindset

Component 2

After every second or third module, the group will participate in a peer led coaching session. A light touch facilitation guides the group to ask for help, listen, provide encouragement, and impart advice. This supports the self-leadership aspect in learning to access resources rather than rely on direction. These sessions are short and sharp in nature to encourage participants to manage time and ensure all voices are heard.

Component 3

Component 3 focuses on experiential and service-learning through a social justice lens. The organisation partners with a chosen charity or not for profit agency, which provides participants with a choice as to which area of service-learning they would prefer to engage with.  The partnership with each organisation will focus on a curated and two-way learning and service experience.

Component 4

Component 4 incorporates the program’s learning and experiences, and encourages the participants to embed the new skills and perspectives they have been exposed to, to align with their particular passions and focuses in a self-led project.  The Change It/Solve It/Create It Project is introduced as one of the key components to the programme at the beginning, and is aimed at addressing, solving or creating a problem, challenge or lack of something the participants have identified in their organisation, local community or wider society.

The project is deliberately self-led. The only requirement is that participants work in small groups and they will receive some ongoing support from mentors as and when needed.  Who they work with, what their project focuses on (within reason and age appropriateness), how they present the project and whether they work on it throughout the program or in the final week/s at the end of the program is all up to them.

Participants are required to present their project in the last week of the program to a panel of experts.  The panel will provide verbal feedback and the participants themselves will be asked to provide feedback on the other groups, as well as each group providing a self-reflection in the final week of the program after all projects have been presented.
